No. Not neccessarily. TheThingsNetwork is a community network. You can use any LoRaWAN Gateway of this network. But you can also contribute by adding a LoRaWAN Gateway to increase coverage.
Yes, that is already planned. This way, a service company (e.g. your harbour master) can directly receive your boat’s alarms and react. This will even be possible in the free app. Or you can share your currenct position during a sailing trip with your family and friends at home. This works in the Pro-App. Both features are not yet implemented but will be soon with one of our next updates.

Yes! But we need to know this in advance so that we can configure BoatOfficer accordingly. In addition, Helium incurs network costs for us, so we only offer this service if the Premium subscription is used in the app. We will continue to expand and simplify this topic in the future. Contact us if you have any questions.

The BoatOfficer is in transport mode to save energy. Press the button once to wake up the BoatOfficer. A short beeping sound will be heard.
Please reach out to us. :) Maybe a configuration for Helium network is suitable for you. Additional costs are incurred.

We use the network of TheThingsNetwork for LoRaWAN communication, which is constantly being developed. Announced last year, the network is undergoing a complete migration to a new version ("V3"). In the new network there are a few new parameters that we cannot dynamically change in firmware versions lower than 1.3.0. Therefore moving the devices from one network to the other (we will do this for you as well) is only possible if the firmware is 1.3.0 or higher. You can find out the version of your firmware in the settings of your boat (click the cogwheel under the boat name). The old network of TheThingsNetwork will be switched off in December 2021, meanwhile it is already subject to severe restrictions for developers. Please send your BoatOfficer in one package to the following address: ThingsOfficer GmbH, c/o Design Offices, Luise-Ullrich-Str. 14, 80636 Munich, Germany. Also include a note with your desired return address. Ask us for a coupon code for shipping costs.
